Being a Cosplayer got me out of a ticket

*this happened to Emmie*

I was walking home and was crossing the street (on a red light but the street was clear) listening to music and checking out things on my phone...I was looking up a few times to make sure I wasn't going to walk into something.

I look up as I reach the other end to find a cop there....waiting for me....dammit!

"Do you know why I'm stopping you?"

"Crossing on a red while looking at my phone?"

"What was so interesting on your phone?"

"Looking at a photo of me and my husband in costume"

"What?"
*shows him photo*
"Oh your Flashpoint wonder woman"

"You know these characters??"

"Yea I love the comics, you made the costumes?"

"Yea we made them last year, we've been cosplaying for about 5 years...we are doing HM and HW this year"

"Tell you what, show me your facebook page and we will act as if nothing happened here"

I showed him our page and continued on my way home...nerd cop FTW!
